Controversy

Hollywood’s infamous wild and sexy dance party at Room 86 is bringing in young French producer, Zimmer, for a special American debut DJ set this Saturday (1/28). Recently signed to all-star label Discotexas, Zimmer is currently riding on some very well deserved attention from his new “Horizontal Disco” EP, which is an impressive release for a first timer. Zimmer isn’t a rookie though; he’s been doing his thing for a little while. We've had our eye on his mixtapes and remixes over the years and it’s great to see him gain support from the likes of Jeremy Glenn, The C90s, Justin Faust, RAC and more.

Zimmer grew up traveling between Paris and California, and his sound definitely reflects that. He has this effortless unique sound that takes obvious influence from his heroes like Aeroplane and Moullinex. If this kid doesn’t slow down with his constant digging for new music and appreciation for the classics, then that alone is a strong sign of a successful year to come.

So yes, this Saturday, the 28th, I suggest you catch Zimmer with some LA favorites at Room 86 for Controversy! The full lineup consists of notorious party machine Killer Cam, aRod of Gotta Dance Dirty and resident DJ Cooper Saver. You can RSVP on the Facebook event page (see below), which gets you in free all night. Drink specials include 2 for 1 well vodka drinks before 11 pm, shot + beer combo from 11 pm-12 am, and $50 champagne bottles all night. Yeehaw.

BTW, Controversy! got its start at The Standard last year and is quickly gaining a solid reputation as a new weekly at the recently renovated Room 86 in the heart of Hollywood boulevard. If you dig sounds along the lines of disco and house, old and new, then you’ll be dancing with us until the wee hours. Each week the party will feature a special international headliner alongside weekly residents Cosmic Dan (Cosmic Kids) and Cooper Saver with DJ Killer Cam and Goj!ra on bi-weekly rotation.

Join Controversy! on Twitter and Facebook. RSVP for this week's event.
