I do love me some LCD Soundsystem. My girl too. Even more than me. She was the reason why the last few times they played LA we were there. She's the reason why I sat in front of my computer screen on April 2nd 2011 and watched LCD play for the last time in Madison Square Garden. And I've gotta admit it was a pretty awesome show. Plus, Liquid Liquid was the opening band. How sweat is that. I really wanted to be there...it was sad to watch James Murphy walk off the stage for the last time—LCD is one of the most celebrated and influential bands of my generation. I really do get it, tho. Why wouldn't James Murphy walk away at the peak of popularity and go out with one of your most ambitious concerts ever. It's better to burn out than fade away or something like that. BTW, credit where credit is due, my girl is the reason why i know about this here upcoming documentary directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace. Shut Up And Play The Hitsis both a narrative film documenting this once in a lifetime performance and an intimate portrait of James Murphy as he navigates the lead-up to the show, the day after and the personal and professional ramifications of his decision.
