Legendary hip-hop group Cypress Hill is teaming up with dubstep’s white knight Rusko for a collaboration project Cypress x Rusko due out in April. A few days back Cypress Hill and Rusko released the music video for “Roll It, Light It” via Rolling Stone and the opinions quickly started to flood in. Honestly, I dig it. I like this collaboration project more than Korn’s and Skrillex. Hip-hop and dubstep mesh together naturally where as with metal and dubstep alterations have to be made in order to create a cohesive sound. Yet I’m not confident in how Cypress Hill or Rusko fans will react, considering there are handful of fans who dislike dubstep or who aren’t fond of artist stepping into a new music spectrum that instantly changes the initial sound. Despite the odd, this is a splendid opportunity for Rusko. Guy is having one hell of a year and we’re only two months in. Be on the lookout for a new Rusko album Songs due out March 27, 2012 via Mad Decent and Downtown Recordings. Cypress Hill is headlining Smokeout Festival in August, which I believe Rusko will make an appearance. In the end, it’s the fans opinions that matter but I think this project will be a success; well, I have my fingers crossed. Check out the video.
So, compared to the Korn and Skrillex collab, which do you peeps like more?
