No strangers to producing beats that murder dancefloors internationally, Jacques Lu Cont and Wolfgang Gartner give Miike Snow's first single off their latest album "Paddling Out" a go on the remix circuit. Happy To You, the Swedish indie pop band's second full-length album is set to drop March 26th on INGRID, the label they co-founded with Peter Bjorn and John, Lykke Li and Dungen that opened shop last year. A couple weeks ago, Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe premiered "Paddling Out."
It is astonishing how every stroke Miike Snow takes gets heard so loudly in the electronic music community. There is something special about their presence and marketing that evokes attention; theyve obviously done something right.
The group also released a music video for the track that is a required watch for 4 minutes of laughs, bliss and utter confusion that completely works.
It is only expected that this song gets a serious remix treatment, like other Miike Snow works. Three time Grammy-winning British producer Stuart Prince was the first to rework this one under his French moniker, Jacques Lu Cont. The remix is fitting to this alias, as Prince goes by a slew of others such as Thin White Duke and Les Rythmes Digitales. Creating a perfect balance of upbeat and smooth, this variation takes you through a pleasant ride of dance and chill, like a tame roller coaster with some twists. It doesn't top his work as Thin White Duke which still do it for me years after the fact. Relive these works, as they're timeless Ibiza classics that won't become dull any time soon: Royksopp"What Else Is There?" (Thin White Duke Mix), Thin White Duke "Dance Our Heads Off."
Off to the second remix of "Paddling Out" by the brilliant American electro-house hero, Joseph Youngman, more commonly known as Wolfgang Gartner. The man is on fire so watch out. I've seen this musical genius a handful of times live, none topped by his absolutely epic performance at Camp Bisco last July where he played the darkest big-room set safe to say I've ever experienced. Firefighters actually rushed to the scene to put out the mess started by this guy before it combusted, but they weren't able to. The Wolfgang Gartner remix of "Paddling Out" screams just that, combustable, dangerous, heavy. It would fit right into that Camp Bisco set. He's got a sound down that is so recognizable and original.
Applause to Miike Snow for this work, as I'm sure they're new album promises to be divine. You can catch them on their North American Tour this Spring, dates below.
