The dance music community recognizes Ultra Music Festival in Miami as a mainstay in its growing international culture. 2012 marks UMF Miami’s 14th year and reassurance of the festival as #1 of its kind boasting seven IDMAs for Best Music Event and three-sell outs in a row. This year’s UMF Miami sold out almost three months in advance of the event with more than 200,000 attendees spanning 72 different countries. If this isn’t proof of the brand’s success, we’re not sure what is.
On that note, the organizers of the world-renowned UMF Miami have created the new international festival brand UMF Worlwide, which promises in 2012 to spread their reach into corners of the world it has yet to tackle with last week’s massive announcement. UMF Worldwide are banking on their successful formula that has been built up around its omnipresence in Miami, combining the best, most diverse EDM artist line-ups with the most technologically advanced, large scale festival productions on the planet. What does this equal you may ask? An energy and frenzy among party people that can no other festival can compare to. With UMF Worldwide, it seems as if the brand is set for global domination, committed to bringing the UMF Experience around the world.
The 2012 schedule of festivals and events UMF Worldwide spans six countries and four continents: UMF Miami March 23-25, UMF Buenos Aires May 5, UMF Poland July 13 & 14, UMF Korea August 4, UMF Ibiza May 27 & October 7 and UMF Brasil Late 2012.
Sounds to us like a United Nations for electronic dance music. Pretty awesome. Notably, UMF Worldwide is in its sixth year of UMF Ibiza, which happen in conjunction with Space Ibiza’s opening and closing parties, and its fifth year of UMF Brasil which was honored as winner of Best Event Sao Paolo 2011 at Brazil’s DJ Sound Awards. New on the scene are UMF Poland, UMF Korea and UMF Buenos Aires, UMF’s first-ever official festivals in Europe and Asia respectively. Expected to the be the largest EDM event ever in the region, UMF Poland will be housed at the Sluzewiev Hippodrome in Warsaw, the scene of a massive Rolling Stones show in 2007. The region was chose due to its incredibly strong EDM scene, which is one of the fastest growing markets of its kind globally, according to UMF. Additionally, Poland’s strategic location makes it accessible to more than 21 countries falling within a radius of 1,000km. Tiësto, Avicii and Carl Cox, along with his notorious Carl Cox & Friends Arena, will be headlining the festival amongst over 100 DJs and artists.
Here’s what Russell Faibisch, Founder, Executive Producer, CEO & President of UMF Worldwide & UMF Miami had to say:
We have wanted to bring UMF to all corners of the world for a long time but have never been willing to rush the expansion or force something that would not be a great festival. UMF has a very high standard of excellence and has built tremendous credibility with fans, artists and industry professionals across the globe. We are very confident that this global expansion, infused with our unique UMF formula, will become a collective of destination festivals that excites and inspires music enthusiasts throughout the world to travel to and experience as this has already been accomplished with very successful festivals we organize in Miami and Brazil.”
