Born and raised on D-Train and The Whispers, ‘80s-fueled Pitchben didn’t expect to find himself on the beatport top 10 charts just over 20 years later. Munich’s Pitchben was bit by the music bug very early on, as he picked up DJing at age 13 and has constantly been producing his own tracks since then. His debut record, “Pitchslap” was released in 2011 and now he’s pleased to announce an accompanying remix package for his catchy sun-soaked single “Stand Up.” It’s a blast from the past, yet crisp and new with some electro-funk zest, and with these new remixes I look forward to hearing this track out more often.
“Stand Up” remixes will be released on the 17th of this month exclusively on vinyl. Digital versions will be out on March 16th.
This probably gets my vote as best new release as I can’t decide on a favorite track in this set. The original is already so great that it says a lot to praise the remixes as well. New York’s Runaway (Jacques Renault & Marcos Cabral) did a vocal remix and a dub version, both of which stay true to the original and provide a bit more bounce for your grooving pleasure. On the flipside, there’s remixes by Tiger & Woods and Sportloto Digamma. Tiger & Woods have been mysteriously dropping their version of this in their live shows for a minute now, so it’s nice to see it have a proper release. Tiger & Woods chopped and screwed “Stand Up” into a total dancefloor banger just as expected, which is definitely a highlight of this release.
