Germany’s Exploited Records returns with yet another powerful release, this time from young Munich-based duo, Cocolores. The label has been hitting us with back to back 5-star EPs that usually end up topping the charts a month later (Claptone’s “Cream” and “Good To You” both reached the top on Beatport), so it was obviously exciting to see a new one show up in our inbox. Cocolores have been familiar faces in the scene for a little while already, but if their new “Vox” EP is a sign of what's to come, you can expect them to remain a solid staple in house music.

The A-side, “Vox,” is a peaktime dancefloor weapon that pays homage to traditional house vibes, yet has a fresh sound of today that I think a lot of our favorite DJs will be supporting. In fact, heavyweights like Joakim, Maya Jane Coles and Trickski are already playing it out. Check out the video they just released for the track, it’s pretty rad.

On the flipside, we have “Shox,” which is a darker number that builds up into a deeper monster than “Vox.” This track has a lot more ups and downs than the groovy A-side, which makes it interesting in a different way. I really admire the old-school touch with new-school melodies and sounds. It’s nice to know that the next generation of producers are still holding onto the most important elements of house music while pushing boundaries and keeping things fresh. That being said, I’m looking forward to including both tracks in my future sets.

VOX by Cocolores hits Beatport on April 2nd, and the rest of the world (digitally) on April 14th. Stay tuned for info on the physical release. Like Exploited on Facebook and don’t forget to stay posted with Cocolores too.
