If you’ve been keeping up with our rapid pace of updates, then you might remember us talking aboutGomma Records’ "Casablanca" project. To refresh your memory, the label basically paired Peaches up with a few different producers from their lineup and beyond, and had them cover a handful of songs each from legendary disco label, Casablanca. The release came out back in the beginning of the year, but now we’re treated to a remix package that’s definitely worth a mention.
The original release was really interesting and awesome (to me, at least) because I already loved the original tracks to begin with. I’d say I was most excited for the cover of Stephanie Mills’ “You Can’t Run From My Love,” in which Munk and Peaches killed it. And it only sounds even better this time around with LA favorites, Classixx, on remix duty. I also dig Arthur Baker’s take on The Phenomenal Handclap Band’s version of “Walk The Night.” The other remixes from Telonius and Mercury are top quality too. The package also features extra remixes from Hugo Capablanca, Peez Daws and Gojira.
