Sunday morning was somewhat of a fantasy...a scene right out of Pete Tong's show on BBC Radio 1 you could say. It was tough to sleep the night before knowing I would be on the line with one of my favorite producers of all time, Mr. Eric Prydz. His 3-disc album Eric Prydz Presents Pryda out on EMI Records/Astralwerks would be dropping Monday in Europe and Tuesday in the states (today) and it was a true privilege to chat with him about it. Without surprise, it has landed the #2 spot on iTunes' Dance Albums and is most deserving of your purchase. Definitely one of the best listens of the year. See our in-detail review of the album here and grab it on iTunes!
We talked inspiration for tracks and track names, headlining the IDentity Tour in the US this summer, being one of the most elusive DJs in the business, the story behind "Proper Education," and working with indies vs. majors to name a few topics. Listen in for full coverage of the interview and stay tuned for the feature coming soon.
I have to say one of my favorite parts of the interview was before it even got started hearing the international dial tone and realizing I was calling Eric Prydz's mobile for him to answer. Me: "Eric?" Eric: "Yeah" You get the idea...it was good times and a chilling moment I will hold on to as a dance music journalist.
I had never wanted it to be about me. I had always wanted it to be about the music. - Eric Prydz on his aliases and mystery
