EDM BIZ

EDMBiz is the first of its kind available to industry and public alike by registering to be in a room amongst leaders in the business of electronic music spanning talent, promoters, agents, publicists, managers and the whole nine. An evolution of Winter Music Conference if you will. It surely will be interesting to say the least and we will be there on the front lines to keep you updated with what's going on, maybe even posing questions to you as readers about what you think about certain topics surrounding the industry's current landscape.

We will hear from the likes of Kaskade and Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello, CEO of Live Nation Michael Rapino, Tiësto's manager Michael Cohen and Senior Vice President at MSO Alex Greeneberg, publicist to deadmau5, Calvin Harris and more.

KCRW's Music Director and DJ, Jason Bentley, will welcome us before we get hot in topics including 'What Happens In Vegas' moderated by Jason Strauss, Managing Partner of TAO Group host to Marquee, 'Brand Integration In EDM and ' CEO of Atlantic Records 'Craig Kallman Keynote With Ian Rogers For "This Week In Music."' We will hear from Insomniac's CEO Pasquale Rotella and Lollapalooza's Founder Perry Farrell about 'Creating The Experience: The Asecendance Of The Music Festival" and so much more.

For more on speakers and topics head over to EDMBiz for the full agenda.

EDMBiz officially kicked off with its opening party with Dash Berlin at LAVO last night. EDMBiz attendees have access to official parties including Chuckie Presents Dirty Dutch at LAVO tomorrow and a variety of attractions Thursda. Bassrush Massive will take place at The Orleans Arena featuring Bassnectar, Borgore, Datsik, Excision, Fury, Sigma, 12th Planet and Knife Party. Can you say dubbbb? Benny Benassi & Friends will take over Marquee at night where he will be joined by Cedric Gervais and Alex Gaudino. 23-year old sensation Hardwell will bring his party to Vegas at LAVO with REVEALED featuring Hardwell, Danic and Dyro which we won't miss, and ATB will be joined by Dash Berlin once more for Apollo Road at TAO.

Special EDC Group Therapy Stage preview

A&B_Flyer_EDC Group Therapy Stage

Group Therapy with Above & Beyond and Matt Zo
Cover Charges: $50 (m), $20 (f)
Marquee Dayclub
Above & Beyond will hit the decks at Marquee Dayclub Friday for a special rendition of #grouptherapy with Mat Zo. Group Therapy LA was massive..chilling songs, production quality, everyone together as one. You want to be there. Here's a special account we got from a fan: Here's a special account we got from a fan @kevinsoondotcom:

"Let me start by saying this was my first ever Above & Beyond show. As a fan for a number of years, Ifinally got the chance to see them at the Shrine for Group Therapy LA on Night 3.

On the morning of the final sold-out show, I literally woke up with the promise of doing something amazing that day. Not more than 30 minutes later, I committed to the idea of seeing A&B before they headed out of town (yet again). I immediately scoured Craigslist and Twitter for loose tickets and lucked out when a fan in Pasadena was trying to bounce back from an extra one burning a hole in his pocket. I gladly raced over to meet up and exchange cash for the golden pass. I was in! (http://instagr.am/p/K03dDDGlVD/)

I had arrived at the Shrine early enough to ensure a spot as close to the stage as possible (front / center). As the openers played their sets, there was never a dull moment. Andrew Bayer was absolutely amazing; mixing plenty of tracks from his new album It's Artificial. Needless to say, he killed it - and I was left downloading his album the very next day (honestly, it's still on repeat...). All of us in the crowd couldn't have asked for a better lead-in. But oh, once A&B came on at nearly midnight, its as if someone had reset the clock back to zero. The night was just beginning - and I had no idea of what to expect.

If I had to sum up my Group Therapy LA experience in one word, it would be "Wow." Every fan-captured video on YouTube, every "best night of my life" tweet, every shred of hype...was not only confirmed, it was blown clear through the roof from the minute Jono & Tony stepped on the stage. When the house lights beamed down the signature Group Therapy ribbons, the place exploded. (http://instagr.am/p/K1wFRoGlSU/) The ID intro mix for 'Stealing Time' was fitting and refreshing.

I had anticipated that the energy of my fellow #trancefamily would be at an all-time high, but when you're standing shoulder-to-shoulder and feeling the sweat come on after only 10 minutes of tunes, that's when you know you're in the right place with the right people. Every build-up and every beat was relentless, it's really hard to describe. As the night went on, I eventually moved to the back of the venue to take some broad shots with my phone and to soak in everything that was happening. (http://instagr.am/p/K20XzgmlYk/)

I loved the interaction between stage and crowd. The real-time messages typed onto the screen were nothing short of classic, signature A&B. They made us feel like we were truly a part of something bigger than just a trance show. (http://instagr.am/p/K2l5xImlQ3/) I'm pretty certain this became evident to me when I had people next to me giving high fives and hugs out of sheer joy from the shared experience.

By far the peak of the night was 'Sun & Moon', talk about going out on a high note. Arguably their biggest hit, of course we all knew the words, and we all sang like a bunch of drunks in a karaoke bar.

After the dust had settled in the Shrine, and the #GroupTherapyLA tweets started to pile up, I had sent one over to Jono (@jonogrant), who graciously responded and retweeted the next day. (https://twitter.com/jonogrant/status/204398078860591104) I was ecstatic. This was a great way to culminate a night that I would never forget, and have no regrets about attending at the last minute. If anything, I swore to myself I would jump on the first set of tickets when they re-announce dates here in Los Angeles.

So, what was my story? I had sought out to see Above & Beyond. I wanted to experience what all this "Group Therapy" was about. I embraced spontaneity and met complete strangers, yet felt connected with them the entire night. I'd like to believe that my night differed greatly from others; most go in huge groups, or pairs of friends. I wanted to take Group Therapy LA head on, and fly solo to get the full effect. I think I now understand what it's all about. There simply was nothing else like it, and I'm still hungry for more."
