Review: All Good Funk Alliance “Jack Of All Trades” Fort Knox Recordings—Plus Free Download

Both the name of this duo and the name of its album are representative of what this Fort Knox offshoot is about. As indicated, the central ethos is funk, but as is also indicated, this isn’t limited. All Good Funk Alliance’s Frank Cueto and Rusty Belicek host a cross-section of contributing vocalists from rap to soul. The style of the vocal somewhat drives the genre the track leans toward. Rubber Johnson’s confident rhymes bring to the mind the rolling sauciness of Young MC’s “Bust A Move” on “Mr. Hipnoid.” It’s all about the womping rubbing basslines on the Big Stuff and Think Tank vocalized “Time To Get Loose.” Empresarios multi-languaged input on “In The Rain” swings from Afro-funk to spicy Latin to inde-pop flavors within the span of a scant few minutes. One thing is for sure, you’re not going to step away from Jack Of All Trades thinking all the songs sounded the same.

All Good Funk Alliance recently put together the “Get Loose” DJ Mix which you can download for free below. The mix features a few tracks off Jack Of All Trades plus a gaggle of other top shelf tunes. Enjoy…
