The moment I heard Uneasy Listening, Vol 1 by Z Trip and DJ P back in 2001 I was hooked. Completely blown away. That mix literally changed my idea of what a DJ can do. I came across this Facebook rant by Zach (that's Z Trip) he posted up on Friday. Words all DJs should ponder...

Z Trip Rant: Too many computers are doing the work that DJs should really be doing themselves. Not knockin computers, just the lazy users out there. For me, real DJ skills are becoming harder & harder to spot as the culture expands. Expansion is great, but the ART of DJ'ing is getting lost, IMO. Odd to see DJs w/ their hands in the air for 95% of a set. Hands in the air=hands not on the gear. A crowd should have their hands up, not the DJ! Not knockin the hustle, if it works for you or the crowd, it works. I'm just commenting on what I see out there. Lil' bored watching some DJs work... I just wanna see more. More skills, different music selection, more risks, more curve balls, less playing it safe, less predictability, less formula. I miss the inspiration I would get watchin masters put in work. Used to get hype watchin all kinds of DJs! Very few left nowadays, IMO. Props to all the DJ's holding the torch out there for us and this art form...
