Polish tech-house duo, Catz n Dogz have announced their eleven show North American tour beginning today September 20th in Michigan—the techno capital of America. Formerly known as 3 Channels, Grzegorz Demianczuk and Wojciech Taranczuk have had a busy two years in terms of producing and releasing tracks on major underground labels like dirtybird, Crosstown Rebels and many more including their own Pet Recordings. As they prepare to wow North America with their funky techno-centric tracks, I caught up with them to get the latest dish on what this Polish twosome have been up to as of late.

The underground EDM scene in the US has started to gain some momentum in recent times. Most fans like myself would hate to see it be corrupted by corporate America, what are your thoughts? But this already happened no?

What can we expect from this tour?

To be honest every North America tour for us is better and better every time, because we have more and more friends and people come to see us spinning. We have a lot of cool stuff coming out on our label Pets and recently bought a lot of 12" which I'm digitalizing during making this interview actually.

How is the US different from Europe?

We get asked about differences very often, we've been in US couple of times already (I think around 7) and to be honest it all depends from the party. USA is so big and there are such big differences that is really hard to say something really general. Every party we play we feel is important and we always learn a lot.

What inspired you guys to start making music together?

We both are coming from a bit different musical background. I was singing in a choir for 7 year but on the other hand I was really fascinated by techno and I was also making hip-hop instrumentals for my friends. Gregory was more into deep-house and had his radio show where he was playing some very relaxed chill-out music. Our city Szczecin where we are both coming from is not that big (around 400 000) so it was a matter of time that we will meet on one of the underground parties. We played our first party together in Mezzoforte Club. In the beginning it was always the same that Greg was playing beginning and the end because he liked only deeper stuff but after a while and several parties it really clicked together and I think now we have perfect balance between playing tools and hits, hahaha.

I think the future is really bright because all the kids tat right now are listening to very noisy big-room electro-house will grow up and their taste will be more sophisticated.

What are some of the best parties that you’ve played at?

Oh…this year there was so many! We are so happy! We started our residency at Watergate in Berlin couple of months ego and every party is really really cool, also the open-air that guys did with Circoloco in Berlin was amazing. We also like to play in a tiny club Farbfernseher where we are playing always very weird stuff actually whatever we want. Couple of good festivals this year in Poland, Audioriver in Germany Plotztlich Am Bodem. Ibiza this year was a lot of fun as well—all the parties we played Dc10, Space and Zoo Project were great. For us right now is the best feeling that we can play in a very different location different kind of music and people respect it. It took us really a lot of years to get peoples' trust. Advice for aspiring producers?

The most important advice is to not spend to much money at the beginning in equipment. We did 2 albums using very basic set up and AIWA speakers. Another thing is that the music should be always first. You should be very confident about yourself but not pushy. Those advices sound very basic but they worked out for us somehow.

Favorite track at the moment?

Tom Demac “Little Bits That Matter”

Any artists that we should watch out for?

Squarehead, Trikk, Mano Le Tough…I'm sure I will forget about somebody really good anyway so I will stop now.

Profession you would have pursued other than DJing?

This vision changed through the years and now I think I might open a restaurant more for breakfast. Actually I hope something like that will open soon in my neighborhood in Berlin, big greasy breakfast is what I love, hahaha.

Tell us about your future projects and the future of EDM as we know it?

I think the future is really bright because all the kids tat right now are listening to very noisy big-room electro-house will grow up and their taste will be more sophisticated.
