Here are some recent headlines and news that caught our eye over the last 24 hours. So much happening in EDM culture that it’s literally impossible to cover it all on a daily basis. New music from Zedd, sleazed out house voodoo awesomeness from Antoni Maiovvi, a 12th Planet & Antiserum collaboration, Feenixpawl coming to the states for their first US tour, Strut Records is celebrating Chicago and Casual Records with a new release, new electronic music from Eats Everything via dirtybird, Datsik tour European tour dairies, two Skrillex tours, new music from one of our favorites (that you need to know about) Deetrom, plus free music from Bassnectar. Dig in, enjoy…
Lucky Date & Zedd feat. Ellie Goulding “Fall Into The Sky”
New electronic music here: Lucky Date & Zedd link up and deliver some big room, electro house madness with “Fall Into The Sky.” The two producers created the track earlier in the year and then tapped Ellie Goulding to sing the hook. But you know this if you picked up Zedd’s album Clarity at the beginning of this month via Interscope. “Fall Into The Sky,” the Extended mix, was released yesterday on Beatport. If you like to partake in monstrous, big room, high energy tunes with big airy vocals we say you’ll likey this one.
Antoni Maiovvi “Darkroom”
What we have here are six tracks of sleazed out voodoo awesomeness for the dancefloor. The kinda space one might find in a strange city, in a far away land, inside a low-lit and dirty club—no bright lights or colored jells here. That’s not to say big stages and flashing lights don’t have a place, just not here. If “Darkroom” is Antoni Maiovvi’s 1st track (which it is, that’s what i’m saying) on the forthcoming “Stockholm Synthdrone” EP via Giallo Disco Records, we say bring us more of this madness please. The EP will include remixes by Cage & Aviary’s Jamie Paton, New York Bloodwave pioneer Mircalla and Giallo Disco’s own Vercetti Technicolor, which you can pre-order here. Just in time for Halloween too.
12th Planet & Antiserum “Bass Salt”
“Bass Salt” (awesome name, btw) by 12th Planet & Antiserum is the first track off the Smog Citycompilation, which you can pre-order as of yesterday via iTunes or just wait until October 30th when it actually drops. Not sure why this is odd, but for some reason it seems strange (given Smog’s output—Skrillex, Kill The Noise, Datsik, Doctor P, Distance, Excision, Flinch, Antiserum, SPL, Noah D, Kelly Dean and Plastician are but a few names that come to mind) that this is the first compilation for Smog Records. Anywho…9 original tracks by 12th Planet, Flinch, Antiserum, SPL, Noah D, The Juggernaut, Kelly Dean, Bare and Djyuna. Oh yea, get your free download here:
Feenixpawl Announces “In My Mind” US Tour
Australian producers of monster hit “In My Mind,” remixed by Axwell, might not be a big name right now, but we predict a bright future for Feenixpawl here in the states… if their first ever US tour goes over like we think. to the scene, the Feenixpawl were relatively new when their bootleg remix of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” hit music blogs in 2011 and they’ve made some strides in the recognition department since. Last quarter of 2011, they collaborated with Ivan Gough and signed on singer/songwriter Georgi Kay to produce “In My Mind,” which Axwell secured for release on his label Axtone. Watch this story unfold…

Strut Celebrates Chicago’s Cajual Records
Three very great things wrapped up in one package, Strut, Chicago and Cajual. If you are currently finding yourself on a quest for knowledge, digging deeper and deeper for new music, Strut is responsible for some of the best compilations on the shelf. Hello Chicago. EDM culture wouldn’t be what it is today without that city. There’s a lot of reasons for that and Curtis A. Jones (Cajmere/Green Velvet) and his Cajual/Relief imprints are definitely on that list. “Percolator,” “Brighter Days” featuring Dajae, “Preacher Man,” “Flash,” “La La Land,” ”I Want To Leave My Body,” “Shake and Pop” “Dream States” featuring the legendary Derrick Carter, so so so many reason to pay respect. Only 4 U, The Sound of Cajmere & Cajual Records 1992 – 2012 will be released on October 30th. 20 years of hard jacking classics and seminal US garage…what’s not to love about that.
Eats Everything Drops “Vertigo” EP Today via Dirtybird Records
You can now pick up Eats Everything‘s “Vertigo” EP on dirtybird Records. The EP was released exclusively on Beatport and will be available worldwide on October 30th. You can pre-oder the vinyl pre-order available now.
“Eats Everything, the big lad from Bristol, delivers two smashers just as big as his lovable personality. ‘Vertigo’ is a pure gold nugget of acid artistry and ‘Trubble’ is the filthy cousin who didn’t brush her teeth or change her pants for a week.” -Claude VonStroke
Datsik Diaries “Euro Tour” 2012
Earlier this summer Canadian dubstep goliath Datsik embarked on an 11-date tour of Europe taking in England, France, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Belgium and Finland all in the space of just 10 days. Now he has uploaded this tour diary documenting the chaos that ensued during his biggest shows on that side of the Atlantic. Check this out. If you haven’t seen his US tour video diary, go here.
Skrillex Announces Fall OWSLA Tour
The OWSLA tour is a traveling showcase of the label’s powerhouse lineup, with each show featuring a who’s who of the US EDM culture scene. Veteran producer Kill The Noise will be debuting cuts from his forthcoming EP and bringing French turntablist collective Birdy Nam Nam on their first US jaunt. British tastemaker Alex Metric, bass-pop trio MONSTA, festival staples Alvin Risk, Jack Beats, The M Machine, and Nick Thayer, as well as breakout artists Kill Paris and Seven Lions round out the bill—the army is poised to sonically ravage the crowds. Wonder how massive they’ll be? The assault officially commences October 28th in New Orleans with a special appearance from rising star, Zedd, and Skrillex himself.

In more Skrillex news, albeit still a ways off, the Full Flex Express will hit the rail once again for a Canada tour next summer. But that doesn’t mean sleep on this if you wanna go. No idea what the line is at the moment, but tickets went on sale October 12 and will be available until Christmas at a discounted $49.95. We’re told more info will be coming January 8th.
New Music from Deetron
Deetron’s Balance CD from a while back got us hooked on the man. What an amazing CD, get it if you haven’t heard it. Guy has been gigging loads this summer, but sadly not here in the US.
He’s also been riding high on a flurry of hits. His single “Crave” (the first single of Deetron’s forthcoming album on Music Man) which features the vocals of Hercules & Love Affair. Peep it below. On remix duties are Jamie Jones (Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations) and Ripperton. Furthermore in the package you’ll find an instrumental version, and the “cRAVE Dub,” a full on techno rework of the original. Also note worthy is his remix for Grand Corporation, plus one for Aeroplane and one for George Fitzgerald, which we’re told is coming soon.
New Music from dubstep king Bassnectar. Here’s what Lorin Ashton aka Bassnectar has to say about creating the track:
“This song is classic 808 hip-hop, with a twist: once it kicks in, at each transition moment, I took note of what I initially wanted to do, and instead did the opposite. I created a custom Samba drum chorus of my friend Amber playing every single drum sound of a Batucada/Samba drum line, I worked with several yodellers and opera singers to create a Tarzan like jungle call (special thanks to Jaik Willis), and then took the song through a series of twists and turns and time signiatures, all centered around the motif of ‘freestyle’ which to me means just letting go and getting creative, and doing what you love outside the confines of expectation.”
