Hey EDM culture lovers and fans, this is the production you’ve been waiting for. Three of the biggest names in electronic music: Justice, Massive Attack, and The Avalanches, are signed on to score music for “a giant robot ape” (as the Avalanches so eloquently put it via Twitter) in for the form of a larger than life production of King Kong, The Eighth Wonder Of The World. The show is set to hit Melbourne’s Regent Theatre for 12 weeks in June 2013. Get your plane tickets now.
The score casting was arranged by Massive Attack producer, Marius DeVries. It will merge music from the original 1930s soundtrack with an all-star lineup of contemporary artists.
Catch a 30 minute preview of the music on the King Kong website.
The cast & crew are working tirelessly to bring the story of the larger than life terror to reality. The star of the show, a massive one-ton, six-meter tall silverback gorilla robot, is currently being built in a warehouse. The show will feature visual effects via projections, circus performers, and an orchestral score.
Interested? You can grab your tickets now. We wouldn’t be surprised if shows start to sell out months before the production begins.
