Skrillex releases 3-Track EP via Owsla’s New subscription Service, “The Nest”

New music for 2013 here from Mr. Sonny Moore aka Skrillex! Sonny releases the 3-song, 13 minute EP titled “Leaving” via OWSLA (his record label). Paid membership ($12/month) to OWSLA’s “The Nest” subscription service grants new subscribers immediate access to the EP. But if you don’t want to dish out the $12 then head to Skrillex’s YouTube channel it also has access to stream the EP content. Personally, the EP is not worth the subscription but I suppose the amount of additional exclusive content they add on kind of makes up for it. The three tracks on the EP exercises Moore’s creativity as he dips his toes in different music genres. The self-titled track “Leaving” is an atmospheric breakbeat style tune with manipulated vocals and a melodic undertone. “Scary Bolly Dub” is the more Skrillex identifiable track that samples the previously released tracks “Fucking Die” and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.” This track is heavy but doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. My favorite track on the EP is “The Reason,” a steady 100 BPM number that morphs throughout its entirety.

And just because here’s a new video by Pilerats for “Summit” featuring Ellie Goulding
