You'll be hard pressed to find an EDM fan who hasn't heard about SHM's Sold Out Farewell Tour. Seb, Steve, and Axwell have performed for millions of fans across Europe, Africa, Australia; we've seen the pictures, the instagrams, the tweets. But now, echoing the girl in Poltergeist, we can finally say: "They're Here". With sold out shows in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and LA, the SHM boys are going to be very busy. While the tour has garnered criticism due to it's massively efficient marketing machine, don't assume anything just yet (cause we all know what assuming leads to).
Following the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and the devastation it left behind; Seb, Steve, and Axwell decided they'd lend a hand. And thus, Swedish House Mafia's Black Tie Rave was announced to take place in the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC on February 28th, 2013; with special guests Pete Tong & Carl Kennedy. Black Tie you say? a Rave you say? You read that right, but this isn't just another show in SHM's world tour; 100% of the net proceeds will go to The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund and Save the Children. Again, yes you read that right: 100%. The guys have waived their fee and their crew has done the same with the hope that they can help those affected by Hurricane Sandy and the Newtown tragedy.
So now you're thinking: what a great idea, but tickets will sell out faster than their MSG show and those malicious scalpers will profit from their good will. In true fundraising spirit, tickets will not be sold on a first-come first-served basis (read: sitting at your computer clicking refresh repeatedly as the clock strikes noon). Rather, the tickets are being sold in pairs at auction, ensuring that those who truly want to attend will have the opportunity to do so. While, the first and second auctions have already ended; The third, and final auction, will begin at 10 am (EST) this Thursday, Feb. 14th. Don't sit around and wait though, the auction will close at 10 pm (EST) on Saturday, Feb. 16th. You can participate in the auction Here. And if you want more information, head over to the official Black Tie Rave site.
For those who are interested in donating to three great causes so that they can witness what will be a great night, please note: the event is 21+ and the dress code is strict (it's called a Black Tie Rave for a reason) so no neon tank tops.
