Watch: Soul Clap, Boston's House Music Maestros, Drop Knowledge Over Cupcakes…

We caught up with Charlie and Eli from Soul Clap about an hour before their gig at Sound in Hollywood this past weekend. They're in town working in the studio with George Clinton and filling out the time in between with a few other gigs—like the one tonight at Pattern Bar, which they'll be bringing a sac full of 45s to.

So our video interview...it's 19 minutes of pure awesomeness... We talk Soul Clap Records, house music, why deep house is not really deep house, what DJing is today, Avicii sex change rumors and all sorts of other funny shit. Big thanks to Kim at K24 for saving us a booth. Enjoy!

BTW, there's a new rock solid Soul Clap compilation, Dancing On The Charles, coming up for your listening pleasure. The 10 song collection goes from chill time to sexy time to party time, and features current Bean Town players such as DJ Kon and Bosq, Chas Bronz, Clifflight, and Caseta (aka Joey C), as well as retro-active veterans Curbington Digital and Bon Johnson (who might have the greatest DJ name ever). In its entirety, the compilation has enough disco, funk, house and vintage electro sounds to go around, and shows the span and depth of the New England dance scene. Dancing On The Charles digital DJ sampler is out now, pick it up via Beatport.
