July 20-21 Your Governors Island Weekend Guide

There's no better respite from the NYC heat and humidity than a day on Governors Island, except for TWO days spent dancing and socializing at the best summer venue in the city that never sleeps! RPM Presents is giving you two back-to-back days of fun in the sun this upcoming weekend. Saturday will feature the dirty dutch house sounds of R3HAB, along with an up and coming NYC DJ (you decide who plays the opening act- see below for more info). While Sunday will mark the inaugural Hyte Park Festival featuring Chris Liebing, Boris, DVS1 and many more. Two very different, yet equally great events in one weekend; I love this city.

Saturday:

Spinning at Governors Island is no small achievement, so when R3hab announced he would be throwing a special contest for a local DJ to play the opening slot; we took notice. Over the past week there were plenty of submissions, and last night R3hab took to Facebook to announce that he had chosen his top 5. Now the burden lies with us to decide which of the lucky DJs will get the opportunity to play to thousands of fans. Head over to his Soundcloud to cast your vote by liking your favorite set and make one of these talented DJs dream come true! Voting will remain live until 11:59PM July 18th.

For those of you who don't have tickets, you can grab them Here!

Sunday:

So what exactly is the HYTE Park Festival/what does "HYTE" stand for? Well we're not at liberty to say. RPM and CLR, are remaining relatively tight-lipped about this inaugural event, but promise a not-to-be-missed experience. We do know that a line-up that includes Chris Liebing, Boris, DVS1, Guti, Robert Dietz, Hector Monoloc, and Tommy Four Seven is all-but-guaranteed to be a success. Even if you only recognize one of those names, you won't want to miss this event. With RPM's mastery of combining the festival vibe with convenient mass-transportation and beautiful views, and CLR (Chris Liebing's label) supplying the massive talents on deck; there are few better ways to spend a Sunday.

Feeling adventurous? So are we! Buy tickets Here!

And for those of you anxiously awaiting the weekend with tickets in hand, the forecast for Saturday is 91 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms. When it's either soaked in sweat or drenched in rain, don't we all prefer the latter anyway? While Sunday is shaping up to be a balmy 87 degrees with sunny skies. Stay hydrated and stay safe!
