Magnetic's got your Portland, Or. freedom weekend line-up ready to go! With events spanning throughout the weekend, a visit to the city where life is good should really light up the start to this midweek 4th of July.
Independence Day at Dig a Pony
Dig a Pony - 736 SE Grand - 8pm, 21+, Free
Sure to be one of Portland's hippest parties at one of Portland's hippest bars on a day of the year where one can be overly/ironically Patriotic.
And, Freaky Outty & Nathan Detroit will be spinning southern rap all night.
Waterfront Blues Festival Fireworks
Tom McCall Waterfront Park - SW Naito Pkwy - 10pm, VERY All Ages, Free
If you're trying to blend in as a local, it doesn't get much more classic Portland than scoping a spot at Waterfront Park to see the Blues Festival annual, massive fireworks extravaganza. Pro tip: Go to the East Side and get a spot on the Esplanade, it's usually less crowded. Extra Pro Tip: Get there early and hang out to the Blues early in the evening, music starts way earlier in the day.
American Slime: A 4th of July Backyard Party
White Owl Social Club - 1305 SE 8th - 4pm, 21+, Free
Fresh off hosting The Do-Over last Sunday, Portland's newest all-purpose bar is hosting a sure-to-be packed American affair. With one of the best patios in the city, favorites like Magic Mouth and SistaFist will be slaying tunes until the fireworks stop. This is the party you and your friends can all meet at. It's got something for everyone.
4th of July Street Festival at Bunk Bar Block
Bunk Bar - 621 Se Morrison, Free, All Ages, 12pm-12am
If you happen to be in the say, 18-30 demo, and want to celebrate all the live long day, this is your party. If you like frozen margaritas, even better. The Bunk crew is closing down the street and providing some great American vibes. Sandwiches, tequila and fireworks. It doesn't get much more red, white and blue than that.
And And And
Splash Pong Thursdays
Splash Bar - 904 NW Couch - 5pm, 21+, $5 + dignity
Suburbanites? Check. Lots of beer pong? Check. Party where "The Real World" cast were notorious regulars? Triple Check. Maybe it's a good place to start, maybe it's a good place to end your night. In between, you're better off walking ten minutes to the Waterfront.
Fresh. X Body High: Jerome Lol, Samo Soundboy, DJ Funeral, Tyler Tastemaker
Holocene - 1001 SE Morrison St Portland, OR 97214
