Sharing and remixing new electronic music in today's times is pretty easy- just email or download the stems and you got all you need. But how did they do it back it the day, before the era of the Internet? Check out the video below.
It showcases TRAX Collective, Italian electronic musicians and artists from the 1980s who developed unique methods of sharing and "remixing" reels of each other's music. Their collaborative efforts are some of the first examples of pre-Internet-era file sharing and social networking on a musical platform, which is still so prevalent in dance music now 30s later.
The video is a part of Strut Records' Mutazione project, which is a compilationof 1980s Italian new wave and electronic music. You can download a track from the compilation for free below.
