EDM News: Magnetic Magazine Talks Swedish DJ On the Rise, Sebjak

This is not just another new electronic music DJ Interview for us here at Magnetic--it is also incontrovertible proof that if you're Swedish, you're basically guaranteed to be a super talented EDM culture DJ. Stay tuned for a scientific dissertation on the topic…

We recently interviewed the very humble and very talented Sebjak who hails from Stockholm--land of prevalent ice-blondness, lingonberries, collegiate-priced home furnishings (IKEA) and former EDM mafiosos. Sebjak has just released a new a collaborative track "Let's Go" with Mike Hawkins through Ultra Records, and yes, it is damned good. We hate to use the term "club banger" but this is an epic one. The collaborative track was a quick follow up to his latest Beatport top 5 hit "Jump!"

"Let's Go" is a high-energy level song with a solid baseline and heavy drops--just what the Party Doctor ordered. He's already garnered the thumbs up from Pete Tong & Nicky Romero--it's all upward and onward from here.

Check out the song and the interview below.

YOU'VE BEEN PRAISED BY SOME PRETTY BIG NAMES LIKE PETE TONG & NICKY ROMERO. HOW DOES THAT FEEL?

Thanks, It feels great! Both Pete & Nicky are highly respected in the industry so to get support from them makes you proud!

WHAT IS YOUR MAIN SOURCE FOR MUSIC INSPIRATION?

I always try to listen to Pete Tongs show as he always brings the latest music

WHAT WAS THE FIRST FESTIVAL YOU EVER ATTENDED NOT AS SEBJAK, BUT AS A PARTICIPANT?

I actually played at my first ever festival visit it was Summerburst festival in Stockholm 2011.

HOW WAS THAT?

It was one of my best memories ever still get goosebumps when I think of it!

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

Me and some friends were DJS in 2005/2006 but we wanted to play at the "cool" clubs in Stockholm and to play there you have to know someone or produce music. We didn't know anyone so we went to the local music store and bought a midi keyboard, studio monitors and Logic. We spent so many hours in my first apartment producing music and finally 2009 I released my first remix with AN21 on Size Records.

IF YOU COULD WORK WITH ANY ARTIST ACROSS ANY GENRE, WHO WOULD IT BE?

Jay-Z would be really phat to have on a track.

IS THERE A SPECIFIC GENRE OF MUSIC YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO OUTSIDE OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC WHEN YOU'RE NOT PLAYING?

I don't listen to so much music outside the studio but if a do its just some random playlist on Spotify.

LAST QUESTION, WHAT'S NEXT FOR SEBJAK IN 2014?

Working on a very big unexpected collaboration that I hope to finish very soon we have done some test out and it works amazing. 2014 is going to be a exciting year!
