Event Recap: Dos Equis "Masquerade" In Downtown Los Angeles - EDM Culture - EDM News

Jump-starting Halloween for the month of October, LOVE HOPE STRENGTH foundation with Dos Equis delivered the 2nd event in their “Most Interesting…” campaign for 2013 called "MASQUERADE", October 16, 2013…(the 1st event being “the Bazaar Noir” back in July 2013)

Encompassing the 4 floors of the Belasco Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, the block and a half long lines were a clear indication that the night was going to be one to remember…

The masquerade invitation that we got from our peeps over at DFM, specified a dress code of your “most interesting attire”, which translated to guests arriving in suits, lingerie and early Halloween costumes…but the “most interestingly” dressed individuals were definitely the Masquerade staff that adorned all corners of the venue.

A Masquerade is not a masquerade without masks…and of course, an assortment of complimentary ones were widely available for the taking…we’re not talking the cheap paper crap either… some came in the form of phantom of the opera styled half masks while others were gilded, covered in gemstones and adorned with large feathers...

A definite nice touch to an already intriguingly awesome party…

Of course all of the bars on all of the floors freely poured Dos Equis created cocktails and passed out hundreds of bottles of Dos Equis XX "Lager Especial" and "Ambar" beers which showcased the beer maker’s new masquerade label artwork (by one of my favorite artists: Hydro74).

And let’s talk about multiple floors…
The grand entrance ushered guests into the main stage room where the dj delivered the sounds to keep our masked guests gyrating.

Underneath the main floor was the basement where the photobooth was kept and what a booth it was…as naked ladies painted from head to toe became your “interesting” visual accessories as you posed for the camera…

Did everyone get lucky enough to get clawed by the frisky tiger & cheetah girls? (purrrrrr)

Along with the photobooth and exotic she-cats…

Vipers and boa constrictors slithered around for the touching...

If you didn’t explore, you didn’t discover…

What we discovered on the 2nd level was a table filled with sweetly delicious delights…
OR were they…
ever crunched down on a chocolate covered cricket?

This guy did:

Chewed on a choco-covered jalapeno?
Licked a scorpion lollipop?
or howabout GORGED on caramel covered apples covered with MAGGOTS?

If not, many others happily did...

And of course…along with the sweets came the choice appetizers from one of my favorites... Don Chow Tacos
Care for some CAMEL MEAT SPRING ROLLS?
In the mood for some GATOR skewers with roisin sauce?
How about some fried FROG LEGS???
I was daring enough to try and I have to say… I LIKEY LIKEY!

Onward and forward to the top level revealed a secret room opposite to the theatre’s VIP balcony…

Inside the secret room belly dancers pranced around revealing glimpses of flesh and jingling chimes… another mini stage promised more entertainment as the night progressed.

From exploring the many floors to non-stop dancing to headlining musical act FLOSSTRADAMUS, accompanied by a “smart” LED wristband lightshow that EVERYONE WAS A PART OF…This was by far one of the MOST INTERESTING nights I, and my group of friends, had experienced in a long time…

And as we left the Masquerade, nearing the end of a complete night of frolic and play, I couldn’t help but ask myself…

”did all of this really just happen on a WEDNESDAY NIGHT?!?

Hmmm….

Ask this guy
