Betoko Loses Ibiza Residency Due To Domestic Violence Conviction

It is being reported that house music DJ/producer Betoko (Alberto Cohen) has lost his residency at Suara Music's weekly party at Ibiza's Booom nightclub due to a domestic violence conviction earlier this year.

The incident, which took place last year in the United Kingdom, involved Cohen and his then girlfriend and manager, Abigail Blake. It resulted in Cohen pleading guilty to an Assault By Beating conviction at the Hendon Magistrates Court on January 2nd, 2014.   Blake suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalized due to the beating.

Pulse Radio, the website which helped break the news, gives the following details:

...we have found the official facts surrounding the court case which show that Cohen was convicted of Assault By Beating at the Hendon Magistrates Court on January 2nd 2014. He was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment which was suspended under the condition that he participate in an intensive domestic abuse programme for 25 days. He also received a restraining order of no direct or indirect contact with Abigail Blake, which includes prohibition of posting any photos of Blake or her four year old son on any social media sites."

Blake vividly recounted the story of the beating and posted images of her injures on her facebook page, writing "No male / female should cross that line and you did - YOU BROKE A HUMAN - mentally & PHYSICALLY."

Betoko was scheduled to play Suara Music's opening party at Booom on June 4th as well as multiple other dates for the label over the summer. Pulse Radio has confirmation from Suara Music's press agency stating Cohen will no longer play these events, and has obtained a flyer with his name replaced with German DJ Andre Crom.

At time our article's publication, Betoko is still on the the Saura Music's roster.
