House Music Chart- May 6th 2014

Ultra strong releases once again this week in the world of house music including the ever reliable imprints Gruuv, Moda Black, Rejected, & two from Exploited! Sit back, relax, and let these tunes groove you into those warm weather vibes-- there are some heaters on here.

1. “For Real” Copy Paste Soul, Gruuv

Gruuv is on fire as of late and so is Pete Tong’s ‘future star’ tipped Copy Paste Soul! This bass heavy number off of the Monday EP is filled with plenty of drum rolls and the occasional smoke machine effects that hit at just the right moments.

2. “Long Days, Hot Nights” Sirens Of Lesbos, Exploited

This literal summer-friendly future anthem is out this coming Monday exclusively on Beatport and it is predicted to be one of the biggest anthems this coming season.

3. “Rust” Dark Science, Rejected

Joris Voorn appears here on his own label under his alias Dark Science. On the Rain EP, the standout number for us is “Rust” which conjures up memories of 1990s big room house but at the same time sounding as modern as can be. Joris is in the middle of a big North American tour so be sure to catch him in your area.

4. “Sweet Baby” Mickey, Exploited

We just couldn’t resist putting another Exploited tune on this week’s chart. This one comes from Belgian producer Mickey who wowed us last December with “Deepest” which was also on Exploited.

5. “Meteors Over Russia” DJ Sneak, Plant 74 Records

The original House Gangster lends us a versatile EP with the title track “Meteors Over Russia” leading the pack. “Meteors Over Russia” is a groovy, snare-heavy affair with some deep tension strings that carry the tune along.

6. “Fever (Maetrik Remix)” Tiga VS Audion, Turbo Recordings

“Fever” is a teaser from Tiga’s forthcoming album and here he enlists some of the best in the biz at the moment to remix it. The standout remix in this package is from none other than Maetrik who most of you know as Maceo Plex. Turn this one up!

7. “Ode 2 Da Nude” Brillstein, Play It Down

Brillstein better known as Thee Mike B to most in LA launches his premiere EP with Jesse Rose’s imprint Play It Down. “Ode 2 Da nude” is an infectious quasi disco house tune that gets better with every listen. Pick this up now as it is out now exclusively on Beatport.

8. “Chucho” Unknown Poets, Electrocity Limited

A very unique sound from a very new artist by the name of Unknown Poets which would be perfect for a chilled-out Sunday afternoon.

9. “Get Out Fight” Mineo, Crosstown Rebels

By now, you’ve heard this played out at a festival, your local warehouse party, in a mix, or you’ve just read about. This is electronic music with a punk attitude and it simply cannot be pigeon-holed.

10. “Exclusive" Alexis Raphael, Moda Black

“Shutdown” is the upfront tune on this release but “Exclusive” is the winner for us on this one as it takes on some very deep & dubby development well into the track. This will not disappoint the dancefloor!
