Premiere: Blank Paper “Whip”

With a vocalist that has pipes reminiscent of Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano, we are honored to be premiereing the latest from the Brooklyn based-piece band Blank Paper, the first release off an upcoming Ep set to debut the end of June. The first song is a self-explanatory social commentary titled “Whip”, a back-beat driven number sprinkled with unexpected synths that hit their mark along with stacked vocal harmonies. It’s tasty indie dance with a lead singer’s voice that oozes sexy.

The song is about those alleged “smart” mobile devices we carry with us from sun up to sun down. It’s a song of reflexive observation, giving you pause to consider your technological dependency. The song is danceable, but the lyrics are very well written and thought provoking. I enjoy its evaluation of the contemporary technological evolution and how communication has changed from radio to television to the modern day. It is almost a love song for technology the more I listen to it...
