U.R. Art Festival Kicks Off This Weekend In Santa Monica

What happens when three DJ friends share a particularly inspiring afternoon together? Well, they plan a party of course! Between Rob Garza's commercial success with Thievery Corporation, Philipp Jung's planetary takeover with M.A.N.D.Y. and Get Physical Music, and John Wander's passionate event production as Roam Music, this dream team is a powerhouse of music festival know-how.

Together they came to the conclusion that the sunny westside of Los Angeles, where Wander resides, would be the ideal setting for this meeting of musical minds. They envisioned an outdoor day party where they could soak in the sunshine while dancing to the sophisticated melodies on the deeper side of house and techno. Good concept, right? Next came the challenge of finding the perfect sweet spot and, after months of searching, this baby landed at Santa Monica's eclectic Bergamot Station Arts Center. Philipp gazed upon the scene of funky, industrial art galleries and proclaimed, "You Are Art" and thus, the U.R. Art Music Festival was born!

U.R. Art aims to bring positive, light-seeking energy to your Sundays this summer. Taking place Sunday June 8th, July 20th, August 17th and September 7th from 12pm-11pm, this summer series will have day and evening components focused on great music, delicious food, innovative fashion, and interactive art activities. International and local musical talents including the event producers themselves along with friends like Andhim, Mightykat, Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts, pack the bill with high-quality tastemakers who will keep you warm well after the sun has set.

Being proud papas themselves, another unique aspect of U.R. Art is that the "U" includes children as well. Feel free to bring your creative, music-loving little ones as the parties will have activities that are developmentally appropriate for those as young as 4 years old. During daylight hours, there will even be a designated area for supervised playtime just in case you want to break away from your parental duties for some personal shimmy action on the dance floor. At U.R. Art we take fun seriously.
