LOVELIFE // UNVAELED
Jon Dadon & Jimbo James are the down to earth, music loving lads whose concept to introduce new music to uncharted territories of San Diego as a “necessity”, resulted in the birth of a music event called Lovelife. Jon Dadon has not only been performing but has also been responsible for bringing (with co-founder Jimbo of course) some of the most talented acts such as Lee Burridge, Damian Lazarus, Lee Curtiss, Danny Daze, Thugfucker, Pillowtalk among others. In this interview courtesy of UNVAEL.FM he speaks about the origins of the SD based party, with 3 years in the making that has grown into an international brand and movement. With recent appearances at events like SXSW and future gigs in exotic destinations like Tulum for BPM festival, it’s obvious this crew is making some serious waves. Love for music was what created Lovelife and the fuel to the fire is their passion for constantly growing and improving their vision.
“If it doesn’t move me, it doesn’t mean anything to me.”
Lovelife will be presenting the Culprit 5 year Anniversary party on Saturday as well at the Palomar Hotel in San Diego if you would like to experience one of their events first hand.
WEDNESDAY JULY 9
DOCTOR DRU & MORE/ CLINIC
Clinic Wednesdays invites Jeudi Records Doctor Dru to take you on an eclectic journey.
It all started, when Doctor Dru was a little boy treating his mothers pots and pans with his drumsticks. Three priorities dominated his youth, the Snare, Skateboarding & Soul Music. Soon his professional drumming career took him around Europe, supporting artists like R.Kelly in sold out concert halls. A skateboarding accident left him with a broken arm and put an abrupt end to drumming for a while. But tweaking a mixer was still possible, and so the affair with an atari and a drummachine began. The subsequent years were about honing his production skills and spinning vinyl at numerous parties and clubs. Before long he was producing a wide variety of artists including one of his heroes, Bootsy Collins. In 2010 he founded the label JEUDI Records, with like minded friends from Baalsaal, Hamburg and the following year saw him ghostproducing for other DJ´s and debut his own material.

FRIDAY JULY 11
LEE FOSS & MORE/ FRAMEWORK
Described by DJ Mag as “one of the most talented new forces in modern dance music today” and by fellow future house innovators Art Department as their favourite producer, Lee has quickly catapulted himself into dance music’s collective consciousness. Lee and his Hot Natured partner Jamie Jones currently spearhead a whole family of like-minded producers that includes Robert James, Russ Yallop, Richy Ahmed and most recently Danny Daze who are currently re-writing the rulebook of how to make evocative and emotive house music.
Anabel Englund is an American songwriter and artist. She has collaborated with a wide range of songwriters and producers, and has released music and performed live with British-American electronic music group Hot Natured. Anabel Englund has performed with Hot Natured at such festivals as Glastonberry, Sonar, Eastern Electrics, T in the Park, Bestival, and Park Life among others.
FRIDAY JULY 11
LOWTIDE & MORE/ DIALOGUE
TBD. LOS ANGELES
An all star lineup all night long.
Location information will be revealed only to those who RSVP.
Anton Tumas ( Subtract Music )
Circuit City and broken legs are not usually the beginnings of a DJ career, but Anton Tumas is used to doing things his way. It was at Circuit City, where he was working, that a co-worker gave him a CD by electronic producer Talvin Singh. Anton immediately connected to the melodic, soulful, layered sound structures, which proved to be his gateway to artists like BT, James Holden, and Hernan Cattaneo.
After cutting his teeth at clubs like Circus Disco and Avalon, as well as Burning Man and Moontribe’s decadently creative desert settings, he went to Miami for the 2005 Winter Music Conference. And there, in the midst of a nine-day blowout, he sealed his fate at Space where, during a Deep Dish set, he broke his leg – while dancing!

Low Tide ( Touch Of Class )
Los Angeles based DJ and production duo Low Tide are making waves, showcasing their talent through a depth and emotion that resonates with a variety of musical souls. Respected and passionate artists Michael Sandler, aka SAND, and Joshua Finley share a creative vision and are continuous in their efforts to utilize technical skill and refined taste to bring a unique sound to the forefront of the scene. The encouragement of friends and colleagues joined with collective experience have acted as significant factors fueling a relentless pursuit in the studio to create a vibration of their own, already catching the attention of hotly tipped labels such as Touch of Class and Motek.
MD ( The Basement )
MD is a music DJ duo that was created in Summer of 2010. Started by Rolando Rothschild and Eddie Vela who loved playing music for friends at late hours of the night (morning hours rather!) but disliked how commercial the dance party scene was becoming. In the search for the perfect underground Disco, House and Techno music style, they adapted quickly and got involved with the current underground cultures rooted in their hometown. The deep culture and musical likings helped shape their style while staying in tune with what is current and relevant to their cultural music scene.

SATURDAY JULY 12
SLOW HANDS & MORE/ DISCO DIVE
THE STANDARD. LOS ANGELES
Disco Dive, everyone’s favorite rooftop destination is back with none other than…
[Wolf + Lamb, Crew Love]
One of the main proponents of the current slow-mo and sultry house revolution, Slow Hands aka Ryan Cavanagh is an organic specialist. His rich yet languid style bares all the hallmarks of the classical and compositional training he has had, whilst everything from jazz to blues to trippy electronica inform the New Yorker’s well honed production palette.
Having emerged on the now landmark Significant Others EP (with his track ‘Fast Tongue’ released by inimitable New York stable Wolf + Lamb in only 2009) he’s gone on to thread sunny melodies and steamy bass lines for More or Less as well as Gadi’s boutique, vinyl-only label Double Standards; Permanent Vacation and more.
[We Own The Night]
stolen from VICE magazine….
In addition to dabbling in some music production under a couple of different aliases, Scott K. is also the head of his BOXMUSIC record label, and the founder of the underground house & disco party called WE OWN THE NIGHT. Other than that he doesn’t want us to tell you anything about him. He says that he is a big believer in mystique, and that the internet has ruined everything. This makes it a bit difficult for us, bio-writing-wise. I guess all we can tell you is our opinion, which is that Scott is a nice and multi-talented man who currently does a lot of stuff that we enjoy, and who was also involved in some late 80’s, and early 90’s…um, things…that we also thought very highly of.
