New Electronic Music- Top 10 Electro/Progressive Tracks- 7/10/14

This week in new electronic music, we have a strong showing from many accomplished producers like W&W and Alesso, who are sure to be making a serious bid for the upper ranks of the coveted DJ Mag Top 100, the polls for which opened earlier this week. But don't count out rising stars twoloud and Michael Brun, who've been on fire over the past year and whose tracks and poll positions are definitely worth watching! Happy voting and listening!

1. "Shake That" (Tom Staar Remix) Dansson & Marlon Hoffstadt, FFRR

It's an interesting trend on the EDM scene now where deep/tech house tracks are getting the big room treatment and being blasted at festivals everywhere. I love the original Dansson & Hoffstadt track, and I remember being overjoyed to hear the Staar remix at EDC New York. Out now.

2. "Shocker" W&W and Headhunterz, TBD

Hardstyle and electro house just had a baby. And it's called Shocker. W&W and Headhunterz fuse their sounds perfectly to create a track that defies the boundaries of big room music. Out soon.

3. "Tear The Roof Up" Alesso, TBD

Alesso graces us with his return. Trying something different than his typical airy, uplifting signature sound, this is a banger that is sure to do just what the title promises. Release TBD.

4. "Beast" Thomas Gold & Borgeous, Spinnin' Records

The trumpet-like synths in the buildup really inject this banger-collab with new energy. The drop is sure to rock festival crowds worldwide this summer. Out now.

5. "Fire" Sam F, Your EDM Records

Sam F is the actual producer behind the Davvincci SNL skit's main banger "When Will The Bass Drop?" The energy is constantly rising in his killer new track. Out now.

6. "Step Into Your Light" Joey Dale & Ares Carter feat. Natalie Angiuli, Zouk Recordings

One of my favorite electro producers Joey Dale tries out a softer sound with this massive uplifting collab with Ares Carter. The airy chords are backed by the mesmerizing vocals of Natalie Angiuli. I hope to hear her voice grace more progressive tunes like these! Out July 28th.

7. "Believer" (Tiësto Remix) American Authors, The Island Def Jam Music Group

Tiësto has not been shy about expressing his knack for indie rock style music and turning them into progressive house shakers. This time he takes the American Authors' light-hearted vocal track and puts a big room twist on it. Out now.

8. "Twisted" twoloud, Doorn Records

Although twoloud started under Tiësto's wing with a massively insane electro sound, the group brings their talents to create a lighter more progressive sound this time around. There's certainly a trance feel here too, which led one SoundCloud commenter to label it "Big Room Trouse." Out now.

9. "Zenith" Michael Brun, Kid Coconut

Brun has had an amazing 2014 so far, having played Ultra Miami and back-to-back weekends at Coachella, and then releasing one of my favorite remixes of 2014 so far, "Shadow Of The Sun." Now Brun brings us an original production that is just as electrifying as "Sun," complete with an insanely climactic buildup. Out July 21st.

10. "Fix Me" Swanky Tunes feat. Raign, Flamingo Recordings

This track does not start out like your typical progressive house song, almost exuding a Eurythmics-like vibe at the beginning. The vocals are fiery and lead up to insane, pitch-jumping chords. Out July 21st.
