Finally, Euro dance is reaching the US... Maybe he's a bit late, but Akon has finally arrived. In a sense. As reported by YourEDM.com, the artist is releasing five new albums, each as part of a “Stadium” collective. The “Euro” portion features the track “Better” with Niko the Kid.
The electronic elements clearly come from Niko the Kid as he’s based in the electronic realm. He’s remixed Zeds Dead and Classixx with some originals that could best be encompassed as electro house. The Akon track is as safe and tame as you might imagine, though it is less tacky than the cover art implies. The irony, of course, is that the progressive club style all sounds incredibly American at this point.
“Stadium’s” other albums consist of a “Pop”, “Urban”, “Island” and “World” elements. You can preview “Better” and other tracks from the other albums on his website. The “Stadium Live Radio Launch” hits the US February 7th. These five albums will be the first since Akon's 2008 album "Freedom". Not exactly resurrecting the glory days, but the project is quite the effort.
