Report: Ultra Music Festival Co-Founder Has Died at 43

Dancing Astronaut is reporting that Alex Omes, an Ultra Music Festival co-founder, has died at age 43. NBC6 South Florida is also reporting on the story.

"News broke early this morning via social media that the Miami Nightlife icon had passed away but no information on the cause of death has been made available. Omes was instrumental in the creation of Ultra alongside former partner Russell Faibisch in 1999, a relationship that lasted until 2010 when disagreements cause the pair to part ways.

After taking his leave from the festival brand, Omes was responsible for the first run of Swedish House Mafia shows in Miami that year — performances that would later be credited with the trio’s meteoric rise in 2010-2011.”

According to the Daily Business Review, Omes was also the publisher of the music magazine D’VOX (Read more: http://www.dailybusinessreview.com/id=1202592192392/Ousted-Ultra-cofounder-sues-to-regain-control-of-music-festival#ixzz3OjPbkjnh).

Despite any dispute, there is no question how integral the Ultra Music Festival has become in EDM culture. The Ultra Music Festival just announced their Phase One Miami 2015 lineup last week.
