Yes, EDM. Scary, isn't it? The new trailer for the psychological thriller called "Enter The Dangerous Mind" or "EDM" as it's being marketed appears to involve all the culture's staples - drugs, dubstep and a psychopathic DJ who just loses it.
The EDM horror movie is being called "One of the most profound psychological thrillers of the last 1o years" by Popmatters and "Intense" by Film School Rejects. It's from two little known directors Youssef Delara and Victor Teran (the latter also wrote the film). The leads are Wolf of Wall Street's Jake Hoffman and Twilight's Nikki Reed. The synopsis is as follows from iTunes:
A socially awkward EDM musician with a traumatic past, a tenuous grip on reality, and voices in his head. When he meets Wendy (Nikki Reed), he thinks he might finally have a shot at happiness. But as long-buried memories begin to stir, and his crush turns into obsession, Jim finds himself looking into a violent abyss… and he won’t be going alone. [...]
Just what the culture needs. A little PLUM to set the record straight.
The film didn't start with as EDM though. According to Trailer Addict, it was first called "Snap" and the Facebook page contains a lot of "Braintree" branding. The less-clever tagline seems to work with any iteration - "Don't listen to the voices".
"EDM" is in theaters February 6th and has a pre-theatrical 7.6 IMDB score. You can view the trailer on iTunes.
