Future Music Festival was set to go off in Asia next week, Avicii and all, but how quickly things change.
Yahoo! is reporting that the festival has been denied permits due to "serious concerns" over drugs. But in an act of defiance, the festival isn't about to let that stop it. An appeal was apparently sent on Tuesday (3/3) and the festival said "Regardless, the show must go on" in a Facebook post.
The festival is promising fans an update by Friday (3/6) and asking them to share their support via the #KeepFMFAAlive Twitter tag.
This seems like it would be a huge blow to the festival who had been talking up their new "Supernova" stage and "sparing no expense". They also said they planned for "a few more surprises" though this permit problem surely wasn't one of them.
The festival was actually denied permits twice according to Yahoo!, both in January and February. However they were still promoting the festival on social media as recently as yesterday.
Last year the festival was in Malaysia and the festival also made a point in their Facebook post to appeal that any drug problems there didn't indicate an issue with the festival or any future problems.
