The new Traktor Kontrol D2 is so crazy they had to test the thing behind a cage. And they couldn't test it on humans apparently either...
As you can see in the above video, the latest Native Instruments controller has a full color hi-res display and touch-senstive knobs and faders. It's geared towards the advanced crowd but it's not like it can't be tamed. Richie Hawtin will be using the beast on his CNTRL North America Tour this year. We doubt they'll be cages there, so be careful, especially with Hawtin commanding this thing.
And touring is really where this thing stands out. It's "built for the road" with "rubber padded foldable feet" and has the ability to quickly pair with another unit thanks to an "additional USB ports on the rear panel plus an included power supply splitter cable".
This summer you will also have the ability to use it to mix stems ("an open file format coming soon that introduces multi-channel mixing with different musical elements of a track"). That will make it "among the first DJ controllers of its kind to offer mixing possibilities with the very DNA of your music" according to Native Instruments.
The Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol D2 will be available in May for $499. You can view full details including hardware and software specs, workflow info and videos via Native Instruments.
