Everyone CALM DOWN About LA COUNTY BANNING Music Festivals - OpEd

Since the tragic death of 2 teens at the Hard Summer Festival at the Pomona Fairplex, Los Angeles County Supervisor, Hilda Solis, announced that they would be proposing a temporary ban on music festivals on Los Angeles County owned properties, in order to continue their investigations into the 2 deaths and also to re-evaluate security and safety measures for music festivals. (LA Times article here)

Seems fair enough, I mean when someone gets killed on the 405 freeway, they always close it down regardless of how inconvenient it is for thousands of drivers.  Or when a person gets murdered in a neighborhood, try going home if you live on the same block. Nope, it's closed until further notice no matter if you live there or not.

So people, STOP ALREADY WITH ALL THE ANGERED RANTS ABOUT LA COUNTY BANNING MUSIC FESTIVALS!!!  Newsflash IT’S TEMPORARY!!!

It’s alarming to see how non-committing, with the simple act of reading, our society seems to have become, because apparently everyone relies solely on sensationalized single sentence headlines, instead of actually reading the articles they are pitching.  My Facebook and Twitter feeds have been BLOWING UP with everyone and their mommas ranting and bitching about how Los Angeles is so wrong for BANNING music festivals and how our rights are being attacked etc. etc. etc.  These uninformed and uneducated rants are beyond ridiculous and only make the people who keep posting them, look like the dunce!!!

dunce

Please read the articles before impulsively posting. LET’S KEEP OUR SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS FILLED WITH EDUCATED COMMENTARY. Not half-cocked emotionally driven uninformed rants. At the end of the day... this "temporary" ban is only secluded to "LA COUNTY owned properties," which would mean that if you have a privately owned venue... PARTY ON Garth!
