Sydney, Australia - Thousands took to the streets to protest against Sydney's lockout laws. 'Reclaim The Streets' saw DJs, promoters, clubbers, hospitality workers and other citizens join forces to create awareness for the laws that have been detrimental to the cities club life.

The laws have been in place since February 2014, but the citizens have had enough. The laws restrict clubs from letting new patrons in past 1:30 AM and also don't allow the sell of alcohol past 3:00 AM.

The laws were first introduced in order to reduce alcohol related violence in the city. Although good intentions are in mind by city officials the laws have drawn criticism due to it's restrictions on culture, freedom and business.

Since the laws have been in place there has been an 18% increase in alcohol related violence in the neighboring town of Newtown which lies just outside the lockout jurisdiction. Although this law effects all the nightclubs in Sydney, the Star Casino remains exempt while the other venues lose business.
