Frankie Knuckles passed away in April of last year, but his music has immortalized the iconic producer. Tracks like 'The Whistle Song', 'Only The Strong Survive' and 'Rain Falls' helped grow and evolve an underground culture from the ground up. He was able to expand a scene that gave people freedom to be whoever they wanted to be and dance music owes much of it's popularity due to his innovations.
It's amazing to see new Frankie Knuckles tracks pop up that have yet to have a vinyl release. The track 'Boyz!' will finally see the light of day due to a collaborative vinyl via Def Mix Music featuring remixes by Farley & Heller and David Morales with the Director's Cut master also included in the pressing. Vocals on the track are provided by Jamie Principle, who also collaborated with Knuckles on timeless classics like ‘Your Love’ and ‘Baby Wants To Ride’. Listen to the tracks below and read how those involved with the release express their admiration for the late producer's work.
Boyz! is due to be released via Def Mix Music/SoSure Music on November 29th. All proceeds generated from sales of the vinyl release will be split between The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and The Frankie Knuckles Fund (Elton John Aids Foundation).
