Best Producers, Best Track and Best Live Act (somehow): Noisia

It's that time of year again - the air is frosty but the Drum and Bass is blazing and the time for reckoning is upon the DnB scene. Artists, MC's and producers have slaved away all year generating tunes to appease our salivating greed for a banger and it's time that graft got glorified.

Electric Brixton in London housed this year's Drum and Bass Arena Awards. This is the 7th year running and each year, both the crowd and atmosphere swells. Tables were reigned over with representation from RAM, Hospital, Liquicity, Shogun, Spearhead and the rest of the best. Friction was perched near the front with his snapback facing the wrong way and the Spearhead table seemed merry. The vibe was hype, pumped up gun fingers stabbed the air regularly and come the end of the night, Andy C was seen cutting a path back to the RAM table with a big bottle of spirits in tow - undoubtedly appropriate celebrations were had by all.

So props where props are due to all the winners, nominee's and people who help to make the night such a wicked nod to the scene and its many accomplishments.

Without further ado...the winners of this year's Drum and Bass Arena Awards are:

BEST NEWCOMER MC

MC Coppa

Errr...not sure he's a newcomer folks....but he is an incredibly skilled MC. Big up my boy C!

Last year: Skittles

BEST NEWCOMER DJ

Maduk

Hospital Record's know a good thing when they see it and their latest sign was in the house to receive the kudos.

Last year: Emperor

BEST NEWCOMER PRODUCER

Cartoon

If you’ll note last year’s winner and his rise to glory this year, I think you’ll agree that Cartoon have shimmied themselves into a good spot. One member was wearing particularly interesting sweat pant attire - rate.

Last year: Maduk

BEST LIVE ACT

Noisia

High five to their booking agent for securing them this award against all odds - Noisia have self-admittedly never actually performed live.

Last year: Camo & Krooked

BEST TRACK

Noisia & The Upbeats – Dead Limit

The mainstream has been left in the dust this year to pave the way for the floor damaging, gut-wrenching trio that is Noisia.

Last year: Sigma – Nobody To Love

BEST VOCALIST

Riya

Boasting big support from the Spearhead crew, Riya took out her second year as best vocalist and performed at halftime to boot.

Last year: Riya

BEST REMIX [new category]

The Prodigy – Nasty (Spor Remix)

Spor accepted the award with a pre-recorded video from a studio somewhere - appeared to be in very, very good spirits.

BEST FESTIVAL

Let It Roll

Bigging up the Czech Republic massive - Let It Roll should be on any drum and bass fan's wish list.

Last year: Let It Roll

BEST CLUB NIGHT

Hospitality

Hospitality has taken best club night 4 years running, dubbing them officially, king of the castle.

Last year: Hospitality

BEST VIDEO

Netsky ft. Digital Farm Animals – Rio

Last year: Dub Phizix & Strategy – Buffalo Charge

BEST ALBUM

Mefjus - Emulation

Mefjus continues to surprise me by being incredibly clean cut and innocent looking - despite his music dispensing coronaries on the reg.

Last year: State Of Mind – Eat The Rich

BEST MC

Dynamite MC

Cheeky chappy may have had his co-host position pimped by Jenna G on the night but he dropped bars on Riya’s set and then stole away with Best MC again....

Last year: Dynamite MC

BEST DJ

Andy C

Every year since the dawn of time...

Last year: Guess.

BEST PRODUCER

Noisia

Big up.

Last year: Noisia

Hospitality

2nd year running - large Hospitality representation in house. Think it’s fair to say the label is dominating proceedings.

Last year: Hospitality

Diane Charlemagne & Mampi Swift

 Last year: Fabio

Congrats to all the winners and nominee's - you all stormed 2015!
