The entire music and fashion world will be mourning the death of David Bowie as he passed away peacefully just two days after his 69th birthday. The iconic trendsetting artist died on Sunday, January 10th after a lengthy fight with cancer.

Although he was battling cancer for 18 months, he was actively supplying his fans with groundbreaking music up until his death. He recently released his 25th album, Blackstar, on his birthday, January 8th. A tribute concert is planned for Bowie at Carnegie Hall on March 31 with the Roots, Cyndi Lauper, Perry Farrell, the Mountain Goats and more performing.

"January 10 2016 - David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief."

Bowie is a man who never ceased to push the boundaries of creativity with his fashion and musical sense. He rose to fame in the 70s and 80s with lyrics that possessed messages about being different from everyone else, exploring what it means to be unique in every way. His influence will forever leave a mark on culture and artistic freedom of expression. He will be sorely missed.
