Things you need for the festival life

Every year we promise ourselves that by the time festival season rolls around we'll be more prepared, but very few of us actually plan far enough ahead to make this a reality.

While millions of music fans will no doubt head off to the likes of Rock Fest, Paradiso, Mountain Jam or countless other North American events without the necessary provisions to make it through until the last note is played, we still want to help.

Using our experience of the festival scene, we've put together a list of five essentials you should make sure you've got packed away in 2016.

Shine a Light

Anyone who has ever had to find their tent in the dead of the night will know that it's almost like tiptoeing through a minefield. Of course, the obvious answer is a torch, but using the one on your smartphone is not the way.

To stay as mobile and agile as possible your need a head mounted torch. Yes, it might look a little weird, but it's the best way to get back to your tent with your shoes and dignity intact. For the festival fantastic there are many options out there, but there are few lights that shine as bright as the Black Diamond Supernova Head Torch.

Stay Entertained

While it's true you're at a festival to listen to music and have fun, there will also be times when you're sat there doing nothing. Whether it's a lull in the action or a band you simply hate, there will be times you need to amuse yourself at a festival.

One of the best ways to do that is play some games on your mobile. Whether you're a fan of simulations or strategy games such as blackjack or roulette, it pays to do your research before you download an app. The mobile gaming world, in particular the casino world, has intriguing offers so it pays to shop around for the best deals.

Indeed, by paying a visit to www.bonus.ca or any other comparison site you'll not only find out which apps are best, but you can even find ways to have more fun playing games such as slots and roulette.

Jelly For Your Belly

Food at festivals is either expensive or mediocre and when there's a queue a mile long it can be extremely frustrating. Fortunately, there is a solution - jelly. It's light, it's compact and it packs enough sugar to get you over that mid-afternoon hump.

When it comes to food items, jelly should be right up there with water on your list of priorities. In fact, even if you don't like it you can use it as a powerful trading tool.

Remember to Roll with It

We hate to be gross, but toilet paper of some description is a must when you go to a festival. Whether it's in a tightly bound roll or a few sheets in a packet, you should always take some spare toilet paper when you go to a festival.

While the majority of events have restrooms that are fairly well maintained, the demand of thousands of people can take its toll on the system and when the paper runs out is often a mass panic. If you want to avoid being caught short without some paper, pack a packet of Royale or Cashmere: trust us, you'll be glad you did.

Sun's Out, Screens Out

Our final tip for any 2016 festival-goers is to wear sunscreen. Standing in a field with the sun's rays beating down on you all day is a recipe for disaster so make sure you pack a UV sunscreen by one of the leading brands such as Aveeno Active, Coppertone or La Roche-Posay.

If you can remember to do that as well as pack everything else on our list, you should find that your 2016 festival experience will be bigger and better than ever.
