An old school rave in the middle of the desert, yeah we know... dope

Magnetic's Rich Kim and Nicole Spiegel wax poetic, or recap poetic, one of the hottest parties at Fauxchella weekend one this year. If you didn't have Faux #FOMO before you will certainly have it now. Calvin Klein just got back to the future with this epic party!

RK: Friday was a grueling day of drinking and eating and partying and drinking and eating and partying. So Team Fauxchella was forced to act upon “The Laws of Fauxchella” and retire back to the house for a much needed disco nap, to recharge for what was in store once nightfall set across the desert cities, and what was coming was going to be big…warehouse big.

This year Calvin Klein decided to toss their brand into the Coachella party-pot by throwing a good ole fashioned warehouse rave.

The hottest wristband for a Friday night in the desert.

NS: Kicking it back old skool raver style, the CK "In the Desert" party was set up in what could only be described as an abandoned empty Walmart Warehouse in the middle of a strip mall in Cathedral City. Not your typical COACHELLA estate party venue but somehow it seemed to work perfectly as first day festival goers flooded the CK after party by the thousands.

WHAT DO YOU RAVE IN?

WHAT DO YOU RAVE IN?

Sadly if you didn’t have the green wristband, that meant you were turned away at the stanchioned off entrance of the un-decorated industrial splattered interior which only glowed with pure white lit walls behind the bars on opposite ends of the massive space. The stage was a constructed light show of white with a chromed panel DJ booth and two massive speaker pillars on each side.

The only branding that this massive underground-styled rave carried was a neon lit-up sentence “I rave in #mycalvins” located on the back wall facing the DJ booth. Absent were the pretentious VIP sections, normally found at other events and venues, which meant at any given time, you could find yourself dancing next to celebrities of all shapes and sizes. Even Kanye and Leonardo DiCaprio made a late night appearance.

RK: I was running around snapping photos and though I couldn’t confirm 100%, I know I bumped into a couple of Victoria Secrets Angels here and there, as well as pro-snowboarder Shawn White and Ariana Grande who was seen leaning over the bar to give her order. Bravo to Calvin Klein for breaking that “I’m a celebrity!  Now stay away” barrier! That’s how it was back in the old days of the undergrounds. No such thing as bottle service or VIP sections. It was just the walls of speakers, the DJs on stage and the crowds of dancing bodies, and quite honestly I think Calvin Klein hit this one out of the park. Everyone came dressed to impress. From the outlandishly flamboyant to the designer labeled privileged, everyone that showed up came with their “eye-candy” A-games and left their pretensions behind.

Alesso

Alesso

With Alesso dropping track after track on the decks, the crowd was forced to respond with sweat inducing gyrations over and over, as the hardworking bartenders feverishly poured, popped and passed out drink after drink after drink. It was an energized gathering of so many bodies and happy vibes that you couldn’t help but be electrified by all of it.

NS: Outside, sweat-soaked guests eagerly lined up in front of two massive In-N-Out Burger food trucks that diligently churned out hundreds, if not thousands of yummy double-doubles. The lines never got bad for the hungry patrons yearning for greasy late night snacks but maybe that’s because most of the attendees were models watching their bikini lines.

In-N-Out...so GOOOOOOOOOOD...

In-N-Out...so GOOOOOOOOOOD...

The only thing missing at this party was the abundance of restroom porta-potties, rather than the under equipped facilities within the building, but with only that single grievance, this was easily the HOT TICKET Friday night party, that was where you, your friends and all of the hottest desert bunnies were at or at least should have been at. The party caused such a commotion with desperate party kids hoping to gain entry that apparently there were scalpers charging $120 - $200 for a ticket, which lead to security cutting off everyone’s wristbands as they left.

RK: Running around the event like a chicken with his head cut-off, half dancing, half photographing, I was really impressed to see so many people having the best time dancing, socializing and hanging. Surprisingly there were no swag kiosks, no branded items with the CK logos or anything that customarily would be strewn all over a palatial estate, and quite honestly, it was refreshing. People came out to boogie for the music and Team Fauxchella and myself are more than happy to have that be the case with all things related to "dance."

pretty + pretty = beautiful!

We entered the Calvin Klein Desert Session party at 11:30 pm and in a blink of an eye, it was already cresting 3:00 am. I guess the saying is true, “time flies when you’re having fun” and with that we left to head to our house for some much needed sleep.

Calling it a night, but still looking HOT!

BRAVO to Calvin Klein!!! I only hope that CK will return for another "In the Desert" party in 2017!
