UPDATE: Here's the real sex tape released on Pornhub. Although it's not that exciting, just wait till the end...

YACHT, an electropop duo from Oregan, might have just pulled opp one of the most elaborate internet trolls of all time. Well at least that's what it seems like, and we commend them for their thorough and detailed approach. Let's take a look at everything we know so far.

Yesterday, YACHT posted an intriguing update on Facebook which stated: "Today, due to a series of technological missteps and one morally abject person, a video that we made privately has been released to the public," they declared. "Claire and I — who have been romantic and artistic partners since 2006 — made a 'sex tape'. It was intended for us only... [But] now you have the option to be privy to that video. For us, that’s a shame."

After a wave of support came rushing in, the artists updated the status in the comments section, which is wear the story gets even more interesting. The comment reads: "We’re asking you one thing: if you feel like you 100% have to see this tape, don’t stream it on some tube site, or download a torrent. Instead, we beg of you to download the video, Louis C.K.-style, directly from us." For $5 anyone who wanted to see the sex tape could download it from fuck.teamyacht.com, or so they thought.

At this point social media was blowing up with people saying they saw the video and were giving praise to the band for taking a stand and getting ahead of this scandal.

Numerous publications picked up the story and proclaimed it for what they thought it was, a courageous move to stand behind a sex-tape, but over on a blog called 4chan, skepticism was stirring. One user said, "so this is fake right? the only people posting screen shots are their celebrity mates." True.

Of course YACHT hasn't come out and said it was a hoax, but nobody that we have talked to has actually seen the video (because it probably doesn't exist). The artists are actually known for pulling off elaborate stunts in the past. With that in mind, many fans are calling this recent move "lame" and "boring", but those people are likely just pissed off they didn't get to see any action.

If you ask us, it's a brilliant move because, why not?

Look out for a music video for YACHT's track 'I Wanna Fuck You Til I’m Dead' which is likely coming soon.
