Tinlicker have released their first original singles in months, and they've turned out to be well worth the wait. After a series of engaging remixes over the course of the 2016 festival season, they've delivered two formidable tech house tracks - and we're proud to premiere the latter of which, titled "Needle," as a Magnetic Magazine exclusive.
Where "Cookiebird" had fallen on the darker end of the spectrum, "Needle" balances the introspective moments of its chord progression with blissfully soft synth work. A playful smattering of plucks at each aural peak gives it a danceability akin to future house, although it still retains an air of sophistication for its layered of production elements.
Where previous Tinlicker releases came out on labels like Atomnation and Sotto Vice, "Cookiebird" and "Needle" arrive by way of their own Zero Three Zero imprint. As eclectic as their supporters may be, the duo's stylistic evolution has resulted in a remarkably cohesive sound.
After listening to Tinlicker's "Needle" above, compare it with "Cookiebird" in the player below and tell us which track you like better in the comments section.
