Boiler Room is a renowned bastion of DJ culture on a global scale, so it's high time that the they put on one of bass music's biggest contemporary icons. It has come to light none other that Skrillex will perform his first DJ set for the broadcasting platform tomorrow, Thursday the 29th, from Shanghai, China.
It appears as though Skrillex's historic Boiler Room set will be live streamed in conjunction with the East Asian offshoot of the International Music Summit conference, IMS Asia-Pacific, which kicks off the same day. A spokesperson on behalf of Boiler Room remarked that it's been in the works for five years.
While Skrillex may have earned a reputation as a purveyor of dubstep and trap, longtime fans will remember that his debut EP, My Name Is Skrillex, spanned the breadth of the contemporary EDM spectrum. Although electronic music fans don't typically celebrate his DJ skills as much as they do his production prowess, what he delivers for tomorrow's performance will undoubtedly cover a lot of ground.
Skrillex's Boiler Room set will be live streamed from Shanghai from at 8:00 PM CST on Thursday, September 29th to 1:00 AM CST on Friday, September 30th - much of which will consist of performances by the supporting talent listed above. Either Skrillex, Boiler Room or IMS Asia-Pacific are sure to reveal where it can be seen sometime between now and then.
