Imagine if the 100-degree heat, beautiful scenery and world-class artists of Coachella were all transported a few miles to venues centered around massive pools. Out in the desert oasis of Palm Springs, California, Splash House recently concluded its second summer pool party of the year whose lineup could have rivaled any major festival.
In the four years the festival has been around, it has evolved and changed into one of the most unique and fun music festivals in the world. Splash House is something much more than just another music festival, it’s an entire experience, and more than anything, it’s a party. From the Friday night after hours, the morning yoga sessions, the festival itself, and another after hours only to be followed with another day of mayhem, it is a weekend of non-stop dancing. Splash House takes pool parties to the next level, and we will tell you why.
The venue - or “venues” I should say - are absolutely incredible. Splash House takes place at multiple locations so that you can quickly and easily change things up with. This year saw the festival move from the Hacienda to the Riviera Hotel in Palm Springs and I personally think this was the best move they possibly could have made. The Riviera is a massive hotel/resort with two large pools, and because of that it houses two separate stages for the festival. The main stage stands in front of a pool that is easily bigger than most, if not all, Vegas dayclub pools.
Less than a five-minute shuttle ride away is the next venue, the Saguaro Palm Springs. If you have ever seen photos of your friends at Splash House and thought, “wow that looks so beautiful,” well, this is the venue you probably saw. The entire hotel is colorful, from the rooms, balconies, pool, cabanas, and everything in between. Combine the beauty of the hotel itself with the decor from a balcony decoration contest, the palm trees, and the incredible backdrop that is Palm Springs, with a sky as blue as the world’s most tropical oceans. These two venues house the main festival, but that’s only part of the overall venue of the festival.
Each of these hotels sells out completely to guests of the event, so that you can literally take a shower, or shot in the morning and walk right out to the festivities. You can go back into your room, or your friends room, or the room of the people you just met and have a whole separate private party. With Splash House, if you ever feel stagnant at any one location, there’s countless more for you to go to in the blink of an eye and have an entirely new experience.
Each year Splash House boasts one of the most impressive lineups out of any festival around. Splash House has been incredibly successful at finding artistic gems and highlighting them right before they blew up, like they did with Flume back in 2014. This year the lineup included heavy-hitters like Gorgon City, Snakehips, ODESZA, Jai Wolf, Justin Martin and many more. The festival had a whole string of acts at each stage throughout the entire day, which makes it a little hard to choose, but also fun to jump around. On top of the massive lineup for the festival itself, it always has an after party at the Palm Springs Air Museum that always has the perfect after party headliners. This August rendition had RÜFÜS DU SOL and Claptone at the top of the bill. These acts absolutely crushed it, keeping the party going until the late hours of the night.
The After Party
The Splash House After Hours at the Air Museum is quite possibly the best post-festival after party that I’ve ever seen. It’s an entire festival in itself. With a massive stage, huge production, and great music, these after hours host the perfect after party. After a long day of dancing in the hot sun of Palm Springs, there’s the perfect amount of time to go home, shower and get food, then head out to the after party. The sold-out, 5,000-person event is held at the Air Museum, which is a quick Uber or shuttle away from the hotels. Dancing around vintage airplanes to house music is the perfect way continue the party.
All in all, Splash House is a crazy fun weekend full of non-stop partying and dancing to great music. It doesn't matter if you come with a group of your best friends or by yourself - you are going to have a great time. You will meet all different types of people, some you vibe with and some you may not, but the good times never stop until you have to go home. We would definitely suggest checking it out if you haven't yet. See you there next year.
