Jozif Desert hearts EP

If you live in Southern California, you are most definitely familiar with the phrase "Festival season never ends." It's something you will hear a lot, and it's because it couldn't be more true. Music festivals seem to be going every single weekend - and that's because summer never really stops down here.

A big part of the continual smorgasbord of unforgettable events stems from West Coast party crew Desert Hearts, who always seem to have some new event up their sleeve to get the youth of California excited.

While people love to attend their parties, Desert Hearts owes their versatility to the fact that they double as a record label. On their latest release, we witness Desert Hearts stretching their expansive reach across the pond and unveiling a floor-rattling deep house EP from London-based producer Jozif

Featuring three original tracks along with a remix from the one and only Mikey Lion, the release is straight vibes with elements of disco and soul popping up sporadically throughout. To celebrate the release, Jozif hooked us up with a quick playlist to ring in the fall - or if you live in California, to ring in the second round of summer.

“Doing my 1st full EP for the DH crew is nothing short of magic. I have so much love, respect and admiration for everyone in the family... I wanted to make sure this EP reflected the different parts of playing at the Festival. Epic, funky, wonky, varied - plus, having Mikey do a badass job of remixing is the cherry on top!" - Jozif

1. Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life [Motown]

“Happy 40th Birthday, Motown!”

2. DJ Pierre pres. DJ Spank Spank - I Believe [Strictly Rhythm]

“RIP Earl Smith”

3. Senzala - She Got It (Adam Shelton Remix) [Mr KS & Friends]

“Adam Shelton killing this on this remix! Big beats, solid production and dance floor dopeness!”

4. Gemini - In My Head Ep [Classic Music Company]

“If you don’t know... You don’t know. Side B: deepy, loopy, groove funk”

5. Dinky - Valor LP [Crosstown Rebels]

“An absolutely gorgeous album, amazing production, angelic vocals. Perfection for an electronic LP”

6. Jozif - Volcano (Mikey Lion Remix) [Desert Hearts Records]

“Remixing can be tricky - there are very few times when someone absolutely nails it. Mikey nailed this one!”

7. Adam Curtain - Hawk Eye [Trouble Maker Records]

“I’ve been a fan of Adam's for ages. Love his stripped-back, bassy, groovy music. This is a wonky, weird follow up to his Classic Music Company belter, 'Talking in Your Sleep.'”

8. Justin Harris - Just Another Loop [I’m a House Gangster]

“This is far beyond its title. Funky, drummy naughtiness... Then again, that’s just what Justin does - badboy funk!!”

9. Joyce Muniz - Day Dreamin' (Jozif Remix) [Exploited Records]

“I love Joyce's music, and the way she DJs so when she asked me to do this remix I was kinda apprehensive at the start… And then this happened! Simple, easy, bassy, funky fun!”
