"Output was one of the first clubs to reintroduce modern clubbing in a classic way”
Seth Troxler

There aren't a great many DJs whose stature is such that one of their performances would fittingly mark the first-ever BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix recorded in NYC, but Seth Troxler fits the bill. The Michigan-born, Berlin-based DJ/producer's house and techno credentials speak for themselves, which is why we were as excited as anybody to discover that his set at Output in Brooklyn would mark the NYC debut of the series.

"It actually kind of started here," Troxler says after Pete Tong's introduction. "Back in 2004 we came over here and did this big party called New York Vs Detroit, and that was the first party that, for Visionquest, got our name out...and Output was one of the first clubs to reintroduce modern clubbing in a classic way.”

Now, a full recording of Troxler's mix is available on the BBC Radio 1 website. You can stream it in its entirety by clicking here.
