Beat Pharmacy "Constant Pressure" (Deep Space Media / Wave Music)

For his sophomore set Constant Pressure, hot producer/remixer Brandon Moeller (aka Beat Pharmacy) returns with another dynamic collection of irresistible grooves ideal for headphones or the dancefloor. This time around, Moeller teams up with reggae legend Mutabaruka, top roaster Mikey Dread, Paul St. Hilaire and spoken-word high priestess Ursula Rucker to deliver a sumptuous platter of otherworldly electro-organic soul. The intoxicating 11-track set marries live instrumentation with electronic ingenuity to create a dense soundscape lush with spaced-out subterranean dub, bottom-heavy deep house undercurrents, narcotic psychedelic soul, cosmic jazz-fusion, tropical Afro-Latin rhythms and adventurous left-field experimentation. Standouts include the transcendent jazz-house workout “Tangerine” (where the expansive soul-jazz fusion of George Benson and Lonnie Liston Smith fuses with the spiritual deepness of Joe Claussell and Osunlade), “Hot Splash Shot” (with Paul St. Hilaire), the quixotic “Caramel” (think Future Sound of London and The Orb meets Ananda Project and Dubtribe) and the undeniable dub dreamscape “Rat Race.”
