Gusgus, everyone's favorite crunked-out elf whisperers are back. And they're on Kompakt again. Unlike on their austere previous release, 2009's 24/7, this time the Icelandic trio has a slew of guests with them–most notably Ur!ur “Earth” Hákonardóttir, allegedly discovered as a teen in a supermarket and featured on the now classic tech-house albums Forever (2007) and Attention (2004). On the newest single, “Over” Earth's slinky, sexy disco vocals thaw Presiden't Bongo, Biggi Veira and Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson's icy, mechanic bump and grind. We're not sure what's happening in this clip, but it could easily be the sequel to that wacky Dane Tommy Seebach's 1976 native disco jam “Apache” and it gives Burning Man a run for its sponsor money. If the original cut isn't enough to get your rump shaking, the remixes featuring Sasse and Tale of Us & Tennis should do the trick. The album Arabian Horse was released earlier this spring. “Over” is out now.
Here’s a video of Gusgus live at Nasa, the release concert for their album Arabian Horse. Daniel is accompanied by the fellow Gusgus singers, with Högni taking over the verse and Earth dropping one of her solo tracks in the tail.
