Electronic music continues to heighten its influence within the music industry one step at a time. Dutch DJ Fedde Le Grand is the confirmed guest for Coldplay’s American Express “Unstaged” concert at the Plaza del Toro’s de las Ventas in Madrid, Spain. It’s all going down tonight. And you can watch it live.
Pretty crazy that an electronic music artist is performing on the same stage with the legendary group Coldplay. This follows the global success and hype behind Le Grand’s remix of “Paradise,” the second single off Coldplay’s fifth studio album Mylo Xyloto. The show will stream live through YouTube and VeVo, which will be filmed and directed by award-winning filmmaker Anton Corbijn. Also, for New York City natives, you’ll be able to watch the performance live in the middle of Time Square off four LED screens with built in sound.
This has no doubt been a great year for Fedde Le Grand, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this were the icing on the cake. Within a year, his success has skyrocketed. Currently, he stands number 14 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs of 2011—up seven spots from 2012. He played headlining sets at Coachella, Global Gathering, Creamfields and Exit festivals. His debut album Output was released in 64 countries featuring collaborations with will.i.am., Rob Birch, Mc Gee and Camille Jones. He’s won countless awards at the International Music Dance Awards. Guy even played a live set from a hot air balloon.
I think this is the first time Coldplay has asked a DJ to join them for the support. It is a huge honor, but at the same time it feels like a logical next step. In my music I am always looking for exciting new connections. Different elements that come together and create something new. I feel you can hear that in the remix I did for Coldplays ‘Paradise’ as well.
If you’re not busy tonight, warm up some hot chocolate and enjoy the sets of Fedde Le Grand and Coldplay. Start time is 4 pm EST (9pm GMT)
